How to Apply
Requirements
To take courses in the Intensive English Program, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have completed high school
- Be able to use the English alphabet and understand basic classroom instructions
Admission
Autumn quarter 2009 is now full. The next program begins in Winter 2010.
We handle applications on a first-come, first-served basis. Our programs fill up quickly, so please apply early.
Follow these steps to apply:
- Read this Web site carefully, especially the costs, dates, and refund policies on our Information Sheet.
- Download the Application from our Web site or, if you would like an application and brochure mailed to you, e-mail us or call 1-206-543-6242.
- Complete and mail the application with:
- the $50 nonrefundable application fee
- a $40 express postage fee (recommended)
- a letter of financial guarantee, confirming financial support for tuition, fees and all expenses during your time in the program
- a copy of the page in your passport with your picture, name, and birthdate
It usually takes seven to nine business days to process an application. Then, we will send you a Visa Eligibility Form (I-20).
- After you receive the Visa Eligibility Form (I-20), contact the nearest US Embassy or Consulate to schedule an F-1 visa interview appointment.
- Pay the I-901 SEVIS Fee ($200).
- Take your I-20 and supporting documents to the interview.
Please Note: Admission to the Intensive English Program does not mean you are accepted to the University of Washington.
