Sending Your Child to Seattle, Washington
Seattle is a very safe and friendly West Coast city. It has a mild climate and many outdoor activities. The lifestyle is casual, and your child will enjoy the beauty of this area and the University of Washington.

International & English Language Programs
UW International & English Language Programs (IELP) began in 1977 with an Academic English Program for students already in UW and then an Intensive English Program was added. Today, with over 60 faculty, it provides more than 50 programs and services to the international community. Most programs are offered on the beautiful UW campus, but some are provided in our facility in downtown Seattle - the cultural and commercial heart of the city.

IELP offers a wide variety of programs to over 3,000 students a year:

  • 3-10 week intensive programs with academic preparation or fluency focuses and a number of electives (for example, Pronunciation, TOEFL Preparation, Advanced Conversation, American Culture through Film, Sports, and Music), and evening and online courses

  • Business English and English for Tourism and Hospitality certificate programs and internships

  • Customized group programs
In addition, advanced Intensive English Program students may enroll in regular University of Washington courses.

Your child will have outstanding UW instructors with advanced degrees and many years of English language teaching experience. They have lived in over 50 countries and studied 40 languages.

Student Services
International & English Language Programs also provides a full range of academic and immigration counseling.

A wide variety of social activities are available through the UW, including clubs, parties, local and longer trips around the country and to Canada between terms. Native speaker conversation partners are also available.
