H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Updates
You have most likely read or heard about the swine flu virus that started in Mexico but has quickly spread to other countries. We now have confirmed cases in Washington State and even King County, where Seattle is located. Click on King County for the most current information for our area.

The World Health Organization has raised its Global Flu Alert level from 5 to 6, which means the virus has spread to all parts of the world. The Center for Disease Control & Prevention has the most accurate information for the United States.

Obviously this is a serious matter, but there is no need for panic. Most people who have gotten this flu got sick and then better. We are making students aware of the symptoms and encouraging hand washing and care when coughing. If they are experiencing a fever of 100 degrees F (37.8 Celsius) or higher, body aches, coughing, sore throat, respiratory (lung) congestion, and possible vomiting and diarrhea, they should go to University of Washington Hall Health Primary Care (206-616-2495) or speak to a Hall Health nurse (206-221-2517).
