Advising
The Student Services and Immigration Advisors (SSIA's) are available to answer your personal and immigration-related questions while you are in the US. To schedule an appointment with the SSIA's, call (206) 543-6242.
The Academic Advisor is available to help you with the college application process: how to select a college, how to apply, how to register for the TOEFL, and other questions about US college admissions. To make an appointment with the Academic Advisor, call (206) 543-6242.
Scholarships or Financial Aid
We do not have scholarships or financial aid for International & English Language Programs students.
Working on Campus
You can work on campus up to 20 hours a week while you are studying on an F-1 visa. If you have other types of visas, you may not be eligible to work.
Taking Regular University of Washington Courses
Students currently enrolled in our Upper Division may be eligible to take regular university courses in combination with English language courses. There are requirements, though, and you need permission to do this. You should make an appointment with the Regular Class Advisor to be advised of the requirements.
Please Note: Taking UW courses does not mean you are admitted to the University of Washington. Admission to the University of Washington
Admission to UW International & English Language Programs does not mean you have admission to the University of Washington. That is a separate process. Admission to the UW is highly competitive, and you must meet all admission requirements, including proof of English language proficiency. You must apply directly to the UW through the undergraduate or graduate admissions offices.
Conditional Admission to UW Bothell
The University of Washington International & English Language Programs and the University of Washington Bothell offer a conditional admissions program to pursue an undergraduate degree at the UW Bothell campus.
If you complete the UW Seattle Campus Intensive English Program requirements, you do not have to submit TOEFL, IELTS, or other standardized test score as proof of language proficiency to UW Bothell. As you are improving your English, the Academic Advisor will help you find and apply to other institutions where you can continue your education.
Most universities in the US require international students to complete English or other requirements to be considered for admission. However, completion of our program will not guarantee you admission to the University of Washington or any other university or college.
