Autumn Course

Fundraising Leadership

Schedule: (10 sessions) Mondays, 6-9 p.m., Oct. 12-Dec. 14, 2009; $995; 3.0 CEUs.

Fundraising leaders face rapid change in their operating environments, with increasing donor expectations, and shifting workforce priorities. Now more than ever, organizations are looking for highly-skilled fundraisers who know how to raise money and lead.

Taught by national experts, this course addresses the leadership competencies necessary to succeed in fundraising long term. You will significantly enhance your proficiency in leadership skills, strategic thinking and building a culture of philanthropy.

Winter Course

Fundraising Communications

Schedule: (10 sessions) Mondays, 6-9 p.m., Jan. 4-Mar. 15, 2010, and Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010, (No class Jan. 18 or Feb. 15); $995; 3.0 CEUs.

Instructors: Amanda Madorno and Katherine Anderson

Nonprofit organizations are always telling their story, but are they always telling it in the most compelling way? Fundraising leaders must understand and utilize communications, marketing, and pr, and they must know which is which and where the overlaps and opportunities are.

This course emphasizes the communication skills needed to develop relationships that last, from personal to organizational storytelling. You will tell your story with financial data and use financial statements to tell your story.

This course also covers:

  • How to strengthen a case statement
  • Leveraging social media for fundraising success and volunteer engagement
  • Diversity among donors
  • Diversity among staff
  • Communicating with the finance department
  • The story you tell on the new IRS Form 990

Spring Course

Leading the Major Gifts Function

Schedule: (10 sessions) Mondays, 6-9 p.m., Apr. 4-June 14, 2010; $995; 3.0 CEUs.

There are invaluable potential donors already associated with your organization. Learn how to cultivate them. Optimize your fundraising programs and expand the effectiveness of your fundraising team with a skilled and thoughtful approach to major gifts fundraising.

This course addresses the full range of skills related to attracting major gifts from individuals. You will apply your growing proficiency in leadership skills to establish and build long-term donor relationships, and manage a successful major gifts function.

This course also covers:

  • Motivate and transform your board into successful fundraising volunteers
  • Develop a major gifts plan
  • The characteristics of special campaigns
  • Integrating planned giving strategies
  • Donor profiles and prospect research
  • Donor engagement, cultivation and stewardship
