Instructors

Philipp K. Janert

Philipp K. Janert has worked as technology consultant, software engineer, technical lead, and project manager in the United States and overseas. He understands small start-ups and large corporate environments. He is the author of a book on graphical analysis using open-source tools (Gnuplot in Action: Understanding Data with Graphs, Manning Publications, 2008), and his writings have appeared on the O'Reilly Network, IBM developerWorks, in IEEE Software and in Linux Magazine. He offers consulting services in business intelligence, corporate metrics, data analysis, and mathematical modeling through his company Principal Value, LLC. He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the University of Washington.

Michael Luckevich

Michael Luckevich is a part-time instructor and community organizer serving the autism community. In 2006, he retired as Vice President with Hitachi Consulting, based in Seattle, where he was responsible for the Business Intelligence Practice. In his role, Luckevich worked with industry and technology leaders throughout the country to identify trends in the Business Intelligence market and develop innovative solutions to address significant business issues.

Prior to joining Hitachi Consulting, Luckevich was co-founder of Aspirity LLC, a business intelligence boutique consultancy. Aspirity was acquired by Hitachi Consulting in the spring of 2004. Luckevich is co-author of the book Business Intelligence: Making Better Decisions Faster. Luckevich graduated from the University of Waterloo faculty of Mathematics.
