Learn what it takes to make a short documentary or narrative film by working on a project from concept to post-production. Study the fundamentals of film and video production and learn to plan, produce, and edit your work with the latest technologies. Practice using camera, light, and sound packages on location and in a studio
What the Program Covers
- Basics of planning, financing, and marketing an independent piece
- Script or treatment writing
- Techniques for shooting, recording, lighting, and sound
- Post-production and distribution
Benefits
You will graduate with a finished commercial, documentary, or short narrative piece for your portfolio, and you will participate in a public group showing of your work. Your film may also be considered for expansion into a full-length film produced in Greece by the filmmaking study-abroad class of the UW Athens Program, directed by UW faculty member Dr. Taso Lagos.
