Participants in this program increase their understanding of acute and chronic mental health needs of older adults, and gain important practical skills in diagnosing and treating these needs. Courses are designed to provide the latest information and practice skills.
The program consists of five 21-hour courses. The five courses are offered over the course of the academic year and may be taken in any order. Courses typically meet on Thursdays or Fridays, once a month from autumn to spring quarter. Students can complete the certificate requirements in nine months by taking the five courses in the order they are offered from autumn to spring quarters or over two years.
Participants must successfully complete all five courses within the two years to earn the certificate. The program's course order and schedule remain consistent on a year-to-year basis. Students are advised to plan their course schedule accordingly in order to complete the requirements for the certificate within the two year time limit.
All courses in this certificate program may be taken as individual, stand-alone courses; for more information, visit the Courses and How to Register pages.
