A Second-Year (Level II) Writers' Program

Approved by the UW English Department

Designed for the experienced literary fiction writer who has completed the Literary Fiction I Certificate Program or has a manuscript in development, this unique program provides a rich environment for developing your short story or novel. Writing exercises and readings focus on enhancing character depth, cultivating individual style, and layering and texturing your work. In addition to reading from the genre of literary fiction, you discuss and critique individual manuscripts. This program helps you shape your material into a first draft. Guest speakers from the publishing industry address questions about manuscript development, editing, working with agents, and shopping your book. Notable guest authors will share their insights.
