Joe Barnes
Chief Marketing and Development Officer for Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Vice President and trainer with Storyteller Communications LLC

Formerly Vice President of Marketing at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, and Director of Strategic Communications and Media Relations for Washington State University, Barnes has managed major market newsrooms in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle. He has consulted over 75 companies and television stations nationwide, has been the keynote speaker at many events, and has been quoted numerous times in nationwide publications including the books, Stories Trainers Tell published by Jossey-Bass and Victory in Our Schools by former Seattle School Superintendent John Stanford. Barnes is an adjunct marketing instructor at The University of Washington, Seattle University and City University of Seattle.

Oleta Beard
Lecturer, Marketing and International Business, Business School, University of Washington

Before accepting her current position at the University of Washington, Beard worked for Western Electric/AT&T Network Systems (Lucent Technologies) for more than 12 years. She served in various marketing capacities, winning several national and regional marketing awards. As regional marketing manager, Beard devised and implemented a regional plan which helped U.S. West marketing personnel sell products and services to government and education markets. Beard has also consulted with federal government agencies. She has an M.B.A. in finance and marketing from the University of Washington.
