The University of Washington has partnered with other universities, businesses and government entities to broaden its online learning opportunities. Here are some examples:
- The Alliance. The UW has joined an online education alliance with the largest providers of online education in the U.S. University of Wisconsin, Penn State University, and the University of California-Berkeley to cooperate in the development, sale, licensing, marketing, and delivery of online education.
- Project Management Certificate Program Licensing. The UW licensed its popular Certificate Program in Project Management to Eastern Washington University in Cheney and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. Partners will use UW teaching modules, materials and online-learning tools, and students will earn certificates from the University of Washington and recognition from their home institutions.
- Worldwide Universities Network. The UW is a member of the Worldwide Universities Network, an international partnership of leading higher education institutions. The WUN hopes to jointly research and develop new programs in rapidly developing interdisciplinary areas of global significance.
- Heritage College. The UW licensed its online certificate programs in Internet technologies to Heritage College in Toppenish. Heritage students will be able to enroll in UW online programs at their own school, while earning academic credentials from both schools.
- R1edu.org. The UW coordinates the R1edu.org consortium, a partnership of 34 research universities offering cutting-edge online programs.
- National Guard. The National Guard and the UW have partnered to create an online master's degree program in Strategic Planning for Critical Infrastructures.
- ResearchChannel. The UW coordinates the ResearchChannel, a consortium of 39 institutions and organizations that share content on a research television/Web-casting channel on demand.
